Fidelity and the North Carolina Symphony kick off Fidelity FutureStage with $50,000 worth of instruments

More than 300 students, teachers, administrators and community leaders joined the North Carolina Symphony and Fidelity representatives for a Fidelity FutureStage kickoff celebration at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. More than $50,000 worth of new musical instruments were unveiled as a surprise donation to the four Triangle-area public schools selected for the Fidelity FutureStage program: Underwood, Washington and Eastway Elementary Schools and Chatham Middle School. Prior to the unveiling, each of the Fidelity FutureStage schools had the chance to perform on stage, their performances interspersed with additional pieces by members of the NC Symphony’s brass ensemble. The event was covered by The News & Observer.

Music Director from NC Symphony visits with local schools

Grant Llewellyn, Music Director of the NC Symphony, visited various local schools in partnership with Fidelity FutureStage.  At Eastway Elementary School, Grant assisted music teacher Mike Truzey with a lesson on their musical recorders. Students learned about the importance of timing and rhythm incorporating tips from the maestro himself. Media coverage included an on-air mention from ABC News Channel 11.

Fidelity FutureStage holiday concerts

Each of the four Fidelity FutureStage schools were honored at their December holiday concerts for their selection to participate in the FutureStage program. Representatives from both Fidelity and the North Carolina Symphony attended to praise each school’s music program and thank participating students, teachers and administrators.
