FAQs

What is Fidelity FutureStage?

Fidelity FutureStage is a community arts education program of Fidelity Investments. The program is designed to help prepare and inspire underserved middle and high school students for future stages in life through in-school arts education. By providing enhanced classroom instruction and teaching support, exposure to professional artists, concert performances and theater productions and student performance opportunities, Fidelity FutureStage aims to encourage creativity, enhance learning and celebrate accomplishments.

Is Fidelity FutureStage the same in every market?

Fidelity partners with professional arts organizations and leading community resources specific to each city, and tailors the Fidelity FutureStage program to the interests and needs of local public schools.

In New York City, home to Broadway, Fidelity FutureStage focuses on theater education, providing students with an intensive playwriting and production experience. In Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and Raleigh-Durham, Fidelity FutureStage focuses on music education, including composition instruction and student performance opportunities.

In each of these cities, FutureStage brings critical resources into public school arts programs to inspire students, enhance their learning experiences and celebrate their accomplishments.

What is Fidelity FutureStage bringing to each school?

Some of the resources and opportunities provided by the Fidelity FutureStage music program include: the donation of new instruments and other equipment; teaching support from trained music educators who will supplement the work of school music teachers with small group and one-on-one student instruction; special school visits and demonstrations by symphony musicians; and student field trips to symphony rehearsals and performances.

NYC schools participating in the Fidelity FutureStage theater education program take part in an eight-month playwriting and production curriculum; school visits by professional actors and other theater industry professionals; field trips to see Broadway shows; and opportunities to interact with Broadway cast and crew following performances.

Who are Fidelity FutureStage's partners?

To deliver this comprehensive experience, Fidelity brings together a network of leading organizations, including local symphonies, Broadway production partners, local community arts education organizations and The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.

Does Fidelity FutureStage collect donations?

No. Fidelity FutureStage is 100% funded by Fidelity Investments.

Will Fidelity FutureStage be going to other cities?

Launched in 2006, Fidelity FutureStage remains a relatively new initiative. Following the success of the FutureStage theater program in NYC, in 2007 Fidelity FutureStage added the complementary music program in Boston, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles with the help of our symphony partners in each city. A music program in Raleigh-Durham was later added in 2008. We are committed to developing these existing programs and providing quality resources and opportunities to our current FutureStage schools, as well as looking at opportunities for the program to grow into new markets.

Will Fidelity FutureStage contribute to my school music or theater program?
Fidelity Investments works closely with our nonprofit community partners to select Fidelity FutureStage schools, based on criteria identified by arts education experts. For the theater program in New York, 10 schools have been selected to participate in this year's program. Two to four public schools have been selected for Fidelity FutureStage music programs in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and Raleigh-Durham. As opportunities arise to add new schools or launch programs in new markets, Fidelity will continue to work with our community partners to identify, evaluate and select appropriate schools.
